Why does old plaster need to be removed before new plaster is applied?
Applying new plaster or pebble finish over an existing surface creates a serious bond failure risk. The old finish must be chipped down to bare concrete so the new material adheres properly and lasts. Skipping removal is one of the most common causes of premature delamination and costly warranty callbacks.
What is the difference between chip-out and hydroblasting?
Chip-out (or demo) uses pneumatic chipping tools to mechanically remove pool plaster, pebble tec, or other finishes from the shell. This is the standard method for most residential pools. Hydroblasting uses ultra-high-pressure water (up to 40,000 PSI) to strip surfaces with precision — preferred for large commercial pools, multiple finish layers, or situations requiring surgical removal without shell damage.
What is included in a standard chip-out scope?
A standard chip-out includes removal of all existing interior finish (plaster, pebble tec, quartz, marcite, or paint) down to bare concrete on all surfaces — floor, walls, steps, benches, and all transitions. We document the shell condition with photos before and after. Written shell assessment reports are available upon request.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Superior Waterblasting LLC carries General Liability Insurance ($1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate), active Workers Compensation coverage, and commercial auto coverage. We can add your company as an Additional Insured on our GL policy and provide COIs same day upon request.
Do you work directly with homeowners or only contractors?
The majority of our work is B2B — we subcontract directly for pool contractors, builders, and GCs. However we also accept direct homeowner inquiries for projects where a general contractor is not involved.
